Signal and Site Alarm Monitoring and Control with Tekron RMS Products

The RMS products were originally designed for Broadcast transmitter alarm monitoring of RF-carrier out levels, internally demodulated & decoded signals, as well as monitor the video, audio or ASI feed at the transmitter input. They are now equipped with contact points for remote site equipment & perimeter monitoring and broadcast transmitter remote control, and are offered with optional integrated automatic and/or scheduled switching capabilities, for redundancy of input channel received from the studio over Fiber and Satellite, or for transmitter remote verification & test.

Several RMS stations are available to monitor:

• TV Transmitters & Repeater/Translators with selectable RF channel in the VHF & UHF band
• FM (Mono & Stereo) Transmitters with selectable RF frequency in the FM band
• AM/MW Transmitters with selectable RF frequency in the AM band

The RMS monitor stations offer a complete system solution to small & medium power transmitter monitoring and control. Its Broadcast transmitter alarm monitoring & control are designed with multiple remote access capability over IP-Networks and include SNMP protocol, Email Alert and embedded Web-server. Remote capabilities also include channel selection and setting of monitoring parameters and thresholds. While the SNMP protocol is used for alarming to and for remote monitor & control by "Network Operation Center" over the IP-Network, the embedded Web-Server allows regional & local technical personal remote status monitoring and the broadcast transmitter remote control from a Web-page using any standard Web browser, with E-mail text-message alarm capability.

Channel & Digital transport feed Automatic Redundancy Switching with Tekron RSS Products

In addition to its RMS monitor stations, Tekron also manufactures and provides solutions for broadcast transmitter remote control with automatic and remote scheduled switching capabilities over IP-Networks. The RSS products covered in more detail in the "broadcast automatic switch" section are designed to monitor a feed and automatically switch to a backup on signal loss with remote monitor alarm and control capabilities over IP, and also offered with remote switch scheduling capabilities. As such, they are installed at the transmitter input for the redundancy of digital channel Video, Audio & ASI feeds received from the studio, for broadcast transmitter alarm monitoring and automatic switchover to backup a channel, or to provide alternate programming at an Up-link site.
The RSS redundancy switching products are available for:

• Video/audio NTSC/PAL automatic switchover with a third Color Bar generator input
• Stereo-audio automatic switchover with a third tone generator input
• Digital TV channel "Video Freeze-Frame" detection & substitution switch
